What is Brushed Stainless Steel?
The material we know as stainless steel (also commonly referred to as "Inox" or "Rostfrei") is such a common feature of 21st century living that there can be few of us who have not seen or handled articles made from it. But how many of us really know what stainless steel is?
Like all types of steel, stainless steel is not a single metal but an alloy that is a material made from two or more separate elements alloyed or "melted" together. What all steels have in common is that their major "ingredient" (alloying element) is the metal iron, to which a small amount of carbon has been added. Stainless steel was invented early in the 20th century when it was discovered that a certain amount of the metal chromium (usually a minimum of 11 per cent) added to ordinary steel gave it a bright shiny gloss and made it highly resistant to tarnishing and rusting. This rust-resisting property which we call “corrosion resistance” is what sets stainless steel apart from most other forms of steel.
What effects can be achieved?
With a little creativity there are lots of effects and contrasts that can be created with brushed stainless steel letters and logos.
You can also combine brushed stainless steel with other materials like acrylic & aluminium composite creating whole new looks.

Brushed Stainless Steel is totally weatherproof product and gives you a tough robust finish but if you live in a costal area we would always advise you use the 316 marine grade as salt water/air can attack and penetrate deep through the chromium layer into the steel causing it to take on a corrosion rusting leading to failure of the brushed stainless steel.
What happens to the waste from our letters and logos?
This product is fully recyclable, we would always recommend brushed stainless steel as there is no substitute for quality and the long life span as well as being fully recyclable, but not all customer want the cost and will some time go for it’s cheaper imitation material of brushed aluminium composite.

What sizes and finishes can I have my stainless steel letters and logos in?
BRUSHED STAINLESS STEEL is available in 0.9mm to 3mm thick and it comes in sheets of 2500mm x 1250mm, 3050mm x 1500mm.
POLISHED STAINLESS STEEL is available in 0.9mm to 3mm thick and it comes in sheets of 2500mm x 1250mm, 3050mm x 1500mm.
GOLD BRUSHED STAINLESS STEEL is available in 0.9mm to 3mm thick and it comes in sheets of 2500mm x 1250mm, 3050mm x 1500mm.
GOLD POLISHED STAINLESS STEEL is available in 0.9mm to 3mm thick and it comes in sheets of 2500mm x 1250mm, 3050mm x 1500mm.
DE-SCALED STAINLESS STEEL is available in 0.9mm to 3mm thick and it comes in sheets of 2500mm x 1250mm, 3050mm x 1500mm (this is the main product we use for powder coated letters and logos).
RIMEX RANGE OF STAINLESS STEELis available in 0.9mm to 3mm thick and it comes in sheets of 2500mm x 1250mm, 3050mm x 1500mm.(this is the specialist range of different textures and colours which we do not hold in stock but can manufacture in on request).
Which brushed stainless steel brands do we stock and use?
We do not have brands of stainless steel in the UK, most is imported from over sea’s which is readily available for making flat cut letters and logos. Tradesigns UK always hold a large stock to deal with customer fast time frame demands to meet those urgent deadlines.
What are the limits for cutting?
There are not many limits due to the accuracy of the technologies we have in house like the laser cutter which has a 0.2mm tolerance and a beam that has a cutting diameter of 0.3mm which enables it to get into the smallest parts of the letters and logos.
The only restrictions are the sheet sizes as above and the point where letters get to 35mm cap height. We tend to draw the line at 3mm thick brushed stainless steel due to the sheer weight of the product and hydraulic lifting equipment that would be needed to move the sheets.
Can we be beaten on price?
