What is a Monolith or Totem sign system?
These types of systems are free standing signs that tend to be tall and slim and viewed from all angles. We can manufacture Single or Double Sided, flat or curved fronted, even Triangular - with or without illumination. Monolith and Totem signs are designed so that your customer’s business really makes an impact and can be seen from far away.
What Materials are these types of signs made from?
This type of sign system is normally made from a mild steel internal frame and aluminium or stainless steel casing, illuminated versions will be backed in acrylic to let light pass through.
Totems and Monoliths can be powder coated or wet sprayed to RAL or Pantone colours.

Where are these types of systems used?
Monoliths and Totem sign systems are most commonly seen outside hotel chains and office/factories but smaller versions are possible, with the aid of our laser cutter which can stencil cut extremely small detail, this application can also be used internally for directional signs.
How are these illuminated?
Most Monoliths are illuminated by florescent tubes as these are cheap to buy, but in a changing world where more environmentally friendly products are requested you can illuminate them via LED’s, although the initial cost of LED’s is high compared with florescent tubes you can get you money back via the low electricity consumption the LED’s use over a period of time.
Are there any other advantages to using LED’s to illuminate this type of sign system?
One of the main advantages of LED’s or LED light sheet is the size, where a florescent tube back tray needs to be about 100mm deep, using LED’s you can create a much slimmer profile to as slim as 30mm.

How are these systems installed?
Monoliths and Totem sign systems have two means of installation, most monoliths and totems have extended posts and base plates so the customer can simply dig 2 holes and concrete the sign into the ground.
The second is the cage method where the customer digs a trench and concretes the cage into a block ready for the monolith or totem to simply bolt to the rods coming out of the block, this method is used on the large Monoliths and Totem signs.
